Mullite Bricks are a kind of high alumina refractory materials with mullite (3Al2O3·2SiO2) as the main crystal phase and containing 65~75% alumina content. Mullite Brick is widely used in blast furnace, hot blast stove and glass melting furnace with its various excellent properties of high temperature resistance, good thermal shock resistacne, high thermal conductivity and so on.
Description for Mullite Bricks
Mullite Bricks are manufacture with mullite as the main raw material through molding and firing in the high temperature. Its refractoriness is higher up to 1790℃, its apparent initial softening temperature is 1600~1700℃. Its cold crushing strength is 70~260MPa. It has good thermal shock resistance.
Mullite Bricks Classification
There are two types of Sintered Mullite Brick and Fusion Cast Mullite Brick
- Sintered Mullite Brick is made of bauxite chamotte as the main raw material by adding little clay or raw bauxite as the binding agent through molding and firing.
- Fusion Cast Mullite Brick is produced with high bauxite, commercial alumina and fireclay as the raw materials by adding wood carbon or coke particle as the reducing agent after molding with electric melting method.
Fusion Cast Mullite Brick’s Crystal is bigger than Sintered Mullite Brick’s, thermal shock resistance is better than Sintered Mullite Brick’s. Their high temperature properties depend on the distribution evenness of aluminium oxide content and mullite phase with glass.
Mullite Bricks Properties
- High refractoriness
- Good thermal shock resistance
- Strong acid erosion resistance
- High high-temperature strength
- Great wear resistance
- Low thermal expansion coefficient
- High thermal conductivity
Mullite Bricks Application
- Furnace roof of hot blast stove
- Furnace stack and bottom of blast furnace
- Regenerative chamber of glass melting furnace
- Ceramic high temperature furnace

Corundum Mullite Brick
Corundum Mullite Brick is made of white corundum, fused mullite and sintering aids as the raw materials through homogenizing, molding and high temperature firing. Corundum Mullite Brick is widely used for all kinds of high temperature furnaces linings and thermal insulation layers with features of high temperature resistance, low thermal conductivity, high strength and high thermal shock resistance.
Lightweight Mullite Brick
Features of Lightweight Mullite Brick
- Low thermal conductivity, low thermal capacity
- High purity, low impurity content
- High temperature resistance, can directly contact with fire
- High strength, with good thermal shock resistance
Application of Lightweight Mullite Brick
Lightweight Mullite Brick applies to all kinds of industry furnace hot-face lined and backing lining in metallurgical industry, petrochemical industry, building materials industry, ceramic industry, and mechanical industry. Such as cracking furnace, conversion furnace, heating equipment, refine equipment, regeneration device, hot blast stove, soaking pit furnace, heat treatment furnace, resistance furnace, tunnel kiln, roller kiln, bell kiln and glass melting furnace and etc.
Regular Specification of Lightweight Mullite Brick is 230*114*65mm
Advantages of Lightweight Mullite Bricks Application In Kiln
Mullite Bricks Products have low thermal expansivity, high thermal conductivity, good thermal shock resistance, high high-temperature strength. They can resist in high temperature for long term without soften. They can resist any acid erosion, but they cannot service in the oxidizing atmosphere.
